Good Deals Today

It pays to shop around, I usually shop at Asda, Morrisons & Home Bargains, and on the odd occasion we go to Farmfoods. So today we went to Farmfoods.

This 5kg bag of baking potatoes was £2.99

These 12 tins of Heinz beans were meant to be £4.99 , the lady at the till had trouble finding a code to scan but when I returned home I found out she had only actually charged £2.99. This was the cashiers error so if you want any they will be £4.99 which is a good buy anyway.

Three Packs of 3 ply toilet rolls - 18 rolls per pack- 54 in total - it was three packs for £10.

Yesterday I went up to Asda and found these on the clearance shelf. Only the smaller size tubes but still a good buy. So I bought 12.

I was trying to get out of the habit of stockpiling but with the way prices are increasing I think I would be silly not to snap up any good deals.

Anyone else keep / or are going to start a stockpile?

If you have room it saves money in the long run.

  1. Its probably more sensible to stockpile now with this Brexit uncertainty. So well done.

  2. Yes, we stockpile when we see a good bargain and have the cash spare. We buy those toilet rolls, we like them - thick and good quality so you don't need to use loads of sheets. Brilliant deal on the toothpaste.

    1. Hi Sue yes they are good quality the last lot I bought lasted a long time. I am thinking of using a cupboard in the spare room to make a little stockpile now.

  3. I've never shopped at Farmfoods, I don't think there is one near here. Some great deals there, Marlene. I don't usually stockpile as I don't have room to store much, but I do usually keep in one extra of non perishable items. X

    1. It's true it would take a lot of room, we are lucky as this place we are renting is quite large and I have an extra bedroom (4 beds in total). x

  4. We stockpile on brands we love, and store in our attic, so midweek I love to pop to our shop in the attic.

  5. We haven't got a farm foods here but I do shop around to get the best buys. I have to drive to Aldi and Lidl in opposite directions so when I do go I like to stock up on stuff I use regularly. This saves petrol too as I only go there when I have other errands in those areas. The toothpaste was good. The small packs are handy for holidays.

    1. Lidl and Aldi are very good with prices, the only reason I don't really use anymore is they are not on the doorstep, so to speak.

  6. You got some great deal, especially the toothpaste. I always like to stock up when there is a bargain on something I will use.

    1. It is a good idea, it is good savings in the long run, better than running out of something and then running up the shop and paying normal price.

  7. What wonderful bargains, Marlene. Our problem is nowhere to store such large packs of things, but I did manage a 9-roll carton of loo rolls last time we were in Lidl and they were a very good price (although I've forgotten the price now!) We don't use many baked beans so they'd eat up (no pun intended) too much cupboard space, but again, a real bargain.

    1. We are lucky in having a spare room, I am not planning on going ott but a few things in stores will help us save in the long run.

  8. Those are incredible deals! I do stockpile some things. I don't have a lot of space, but it's nice to have extra tp, toothpaste, and staples for the pantry. The garden is producing citrus, squash, and herbs right now, so that helps. Looks like my hens have stopped laying, but I still have half a dozen eggs in the fridge.

    1. Pantry staples are a good idea to stock up on, yes harvesting from the garden is really helpful.

  9. We don't stockpile, but we will buy more non-perishables that we like when they're on offer. I buy potatoes from Homebargains at 69p for a 2.5kg bag. I get carrots from there too. I love getting a bargain! Jane :)

  10. I keep a small stockpile. Once I bought 3 large toothpaste tubes and it took me more than a couple of years to finish them. Fortunately they were still within the expiry date. :)

    1. Hi Nil, it is handy having some extras in, people don't realise you don't need a huge amount of toothpaste on your brush to clean your teeth well, a little goes a long way.

  12. We don't have a lot of choices as the shops are limited but I do stock up as much as I can when there are bargains to be had.

  13. We buy bags of dried pulses and keep them in case of emergency. I make a mean veggie soup and could cook it on top of the woodburner if ever power cuts meant that I really had to. I do keep a stock of candles... just in case.

    1. That is a good idea, I always have candles in the house, I buy them cheaply from the car boot and charity shops throughout the year, that way I have enough to last the winter.

  14. I buy my soap making off Amazon. We wait until we have the minimum spend so that we get the postage free and bulk order things that are difficult to get here.

  15. I have my store shelves out in the shed which we call the apocalypse stores...lol.....stocked with store cupboard basics and I don't let stocks get too low. I also keep a good stock of loo rolls, hand soap, toothpaste and bath stuff upstairs.
    Fantastic deal on the toothpaste.
